Yippee! Chuck and I drove to Buffalo to stay with his parents on Friday night, then we left for Columbus yesterday morning. My ankles started swelling LOTS with the heat, so Chuck put the front seat down with a pillow on it so that I could put my feet up from the back seat. I felt like a princess!
We ended up making really good time…we left Buffalo a little after 11am and got to Columbus around 4:45, and that was with a stop just over the border in Ohio for lunch. We checked into our room at the Hampton Inn and Suites and left for Marcie and Todd’s house right away. We finally got to meet our niece, Abbie, for the first time yesterday! We’ve seen MANY photos of her, but they just don’t do her justice…she is REALLY adorable! She looks very much like Todd; it’s almost uncanny! We stayed for dinner (mmm…Outback) and then went back to our hotel, then went back today for more fun. We had lunch at Panera Bread and then Marcie took us on a tour of Columbus. We saw Ohio State’s beautiful campus and downtown Columbus before heading back to Marcie’s house. We took a bunch of photos, but I’m typing this from the wireless connection at the hotel and it’ll take forever to upload them, so that’ll have to wait until after we get back home.
Tomorrow, we’re off to Niagara Falls, Ontario to stay at the DoubleTree Resort Lodge and Spa for two nights and wander around Niagara Falls and the Clifton Hill area. Low-key and relaxing, just what we need while we’ve still got the chance!
